1394 connection d347prt scsi controller not supported

1394 connection and D347PRT SCSI CONTROLLER not supported.

1394 connection and D347PRT SCSI CONTROLLER not supported. [DELL 5160 Inspiron laptop]
I d/l the 32bit VISTA and X-fer'd it to a DVD no problem. SETUP starts fine but during the upgrade install it reports that the SCSI & my 1394 is not supported.
I've gone ahead in tried to re-install VISTA after going ito DEVICE MGR and disabling the hardware in question. VISTA still recognizes the devices, had to go back into DEVICE MGR and unstall the devices.
Just
wondering if anyone else had this issue and found another way around it?
P.S. Still working on the install, install keeps freezing up after I click UPGRADE/update via web install.

THE D347PRT scsi drive is Daemon tools. I had to uninstall Daemon tools (after I burned the ISO to DVD) in order to get that to work. As far as your 1394, if uninstalling does not work via device manager, try disabling tthe firewire port in your laptop's BIOS (if possible).
If that still does not work, I think installing a clean vista will get it loaded, but your 1394 will not be supported.

Yeah I got past the Collecting Information process and into the install from [unistalling] all the hardware in question... but then it look slike to install froze up on my on the second step. It just hung on 99% complete for over an hour.
Against my better judgement... I'm trying a clean install now....

I don't have Daemon tools. I do have D347PTR.sys and I think it has something to do with the RAID on my HP Pavilion a1250n. I have uninstalled it but XP steathily re-installs it on every re-boot.
Who wrote it? Where is the update?

WildPointer, just uninstall from Device Manager and do not reboot. Load up the install CD once the hardware has been removed. I got my Vista finally installed. 7 hours later... but installed and so far running good.

I did do that. Twice. I still die with BSOD. I wonder if Vista is missing SATA drivers? I am not using the IDE except for channel 2 for DVDs. But my drives, I think, are not there when Vista tries to come up. Anyway I get BSOD and no meaningful error indicating any driver or specific error. Just a clueless dump

I did. Twice. I get BSOD. I think it is related to my drive problem. I don't use my primary IDE channel. THe secondary is for DVD drives and my HD is SATA. I think the SATA drivers are missing
